
Sophia Ejameh is a Nigerian artist, educator and administrator with a passion for textile design, fine arts and hobbies in Painting, Mixed Media and Reading. Born in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Sophia is a devoted Christian and is married.
As an academic, Sophia serves as a Senior Lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic's Department of General Art and Industrial Design. Her educational background is impressive, with a Master's degree in Textile from the University of Benin and a PhD in Textile Arts in progress. She also holds a Post Graduate in Education from the National Teacher's Institute and various diplomas from Auchi Polytechnic.
Sophia's professional experience spans over two decades, with roles such as Chief Technologist, Assistant Chief Technology and Principal Technologist at Auchi Polytechnic. She is also the current Chief Executive Officer at SisterART Global Visual Arts Foundation.
As an artist, Sophia has showcased her work in various group exhibitions, including "Thoughts and expressions in Fine and Applied Arts" and "Interwoven Narratives: Exploring the intersection of Art, Craft, and Storytelling." : solo Exhibition titled, " My Heritage, My Pride". Her research interests include textile design, fine arts, art education, and entrepreneurial skills with recent projects focusing on coral velvet crochet, shibori-starch resist techniques and subtractive-additive dyeing techniques.
Sophia is a master member (mst.sna) and the current Chairperson of the Society of Nigerian Artists, Edo State Chapter, and member of the Association of Professional Creative Artists and Designers. She has received several awards and commendations for her contributions to the art community, including a Letter of Commendation for active participation as Sectional Head and Project Coordinator and a Rector's Certificate of Commendation.
Sophia is a seasoned artist, who believes that "every piece of artwork is a a piece of the artist expressed in what ever medium the artist chooses".
